The Grand Canal is 3.8 kilometres in length, linking the Venetian Lagoon near the Santa Lucia train station and the St. Mark’s Basin. The Grand Canal flows across the centre of Venice. The canal is famous for the centuries-old buildings on the banks in Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. In Venice, water buses and private taxis are the main vehicles for public transportation and many tourists like to ride gondola on the canal.
